Christian Wolmar

As the UK’s foremost transport writer and broadcaster, Christian Wolmar writes and speaks on politics and policy as well as the engineering and commercial challenges facing the industry today. He is a regular speaker on changes happening in the fast moving sectors of rail and aviation.
 Christian undertakes consultancy and advisory work for organisations seeking to understand the workings of the complex and growing British rail industry.
His books include 'Stagecoach', an account of the firm which rose from nothing to the FTSE 100 in twenty years and many publications on the privatisation and subsequent reorganisation of the British railway system.
He is also an historian of transport in Great Britain and its social history. His 2007 book ‘Fire and Steam’ documented massive social change that sprang from the coming of the railways – a time of enormous technological revolution not unlike our own.


Marta Fiorentini

Session: The Transport Industry Goes Digital –  How mobility and innovation accelerators drive new business models

Marta Fiorentini is responsible for managing IDC European Tablet Tracker and driving tablet market research and analysis of key personal and mobile computing developments in Europe across both the consumer and commercial markets. She also leads service publications in the European Enterprise Mobility Devices area as well as participates in transversal mobility research. In this role, she coordinates and contributes to the production of documents analyzing and anticipating overall client device market developments and trends driven by enterprise mobility. She also contributes to multi-client studies and go-to-market projects in the device area for IDC research programs. Marta has been frequently quoted and interviewed for press articles and has been a speaker at industry conferences and events.



Fredrik Uddegard

Session: How mobile IT is transforming transport infrastructures

Fredrik Uddegard is the Microsoft EMEA Devices & Mobility Compete Lead. He has +15 years of experience in Enterprise Mobility and related best practices, working at a number of leading EMEA positions in the mobility space. He brings long experience in the transportation industry as Nordic IT manager at KLM and global sales manager for mobility at SITA Aero. He likes to put customer first and focus on end-to-end solutions with low TCO in complex mobility rollouts. Fredrik lives in Geneva and like skiing-outdoor life when he is not trying out new recipes in the kitchen.



John Harris

John’s first field IT project commenced with 6 elevator engineers in 1996, since then he has been involved in the successful delivery of multimillion pound, complex field IT Projects to thousands of field workers to customers such as British Telecom, British Gas, ENEL, Daimler, EasyJet and Airbus. Working with everything from PDA’s to Tablets, GPS to RFID and SMS to SMSC, Johns expertise is in the innovative and realistic way to apply technology to reduce costs and improve productivity, creating real business benefit.
John Has a Masters Degree in Data Communications from Kingston University and is currently responsible for the day to day running of the engineering and project management teams for Panasonic Toughbook’s in the EU.

Mark Keohane has an IT sector career spanning over 26 years with a highly successful focus on developing and delivering innovative mobility solutions linked to cardholder-present payments. With previous employers Fujitsu, Torex, Casio and Elavon, MK has been at the forefront of developing mobile transaction innovations; enjoying international success with blue chip companies in the retail, hospitality, travel and logistics sectors. The world of payments and consumer expectations are evolving all the time, and Mark is helping Panasonic to demonstrate thought-leadership in this fragmented but fast moving industry.



Paul Boyd

Session: The role of the Independent Software Vendor in harnessing mobile connected technology in transportation industry 

Paul has over twenty years of working within the aviation sector. Paul joined Conduce in 2009 after previously working with Steve Russell, founder of Russell Adams Limited, for some 15 years. Paul’s main responsibility is to ensure that the Conduce mobile applications portfolio, which includes the newly released Windows 10 Touch eTechLog suite, is enhanced and further developed in line with customer requirements and to ensure that the Conduce product range is sold globally. Prior to joining Conduce Group in 2009 Paul worked for 7 years as Managing Director at Russell Adams Limited (Rusada) spearheading the growth of the business on the back of its new Enterprise MRO and Operations software. Selling into many new countries and airlines the business soon developed into an international MRO software solutions provider to many airline customers, including Thomas Cook, V Australia, Air Arabia, Spicejet and SIAEC. Also Paul has been Managing Director and Accountable Manager for an aircraft engineering, aircraft sales and charter company based in the UK.



Niall O'Doherty

Niall O'Doherty leads a team of Teradata business consultants that are helping leading global manufacturing and energy companies to do more with their data. He is very focused on the value of detailed and complex data and especially the proliferation of “Big Data”, the Industrial Internet of Things and the associated analytics that are required. Before joining Teradata in early 2002 Niall worked for BearingPoint (KPMG Consulting), Johnson & Johnson and E&J Gallo Winery. 



Ronald Schaeuffele


Session: Aircraft Maintenance goes mobile

After graduating as a software programmer in 1989, Ronald had the chance to work at Crossair, a dynamic and rapidly expanding regional airline in Switzerland. He joined the technical department and was assigned to program a completely new MRO software. This software – later called AMOS – was 100% tailored to Crossair’s needs. Originally, there were no intentions to offer the individualised software to 3rd parties, until Crossair were approached by various airlines in the hope of purchasing AMOS. By sharing the development costs with other aviation companies, the development of AMOS gained momentum, the AMOS team grew, standardising the software and offering professional implementation services. Starting as a lead programmer for AMOS and now CEO of Swiss AviationSoftware, Ronald has been associated with the entire life cycle of the MRO software, from its infancy until today, where AMOS is now one of the top M&E software systems worldwide.



Eckart Wallis

Director Product Management In-flight entertainment

Session: Redefining Inflight Entertainment – fast, affordable & highly flexible

Dr. Eckart Wallis, born in 1965, has been working as Director Product Management since 2011. In this capacity he is responsible for the product and innovation management of the new generation Wi-Fi entertainment system “BoardConnect”. Dr. Eckart Wallis joined the Lufthansa Group in 2001. As a specialist for database development, he was responsible for a digitalization project transferring personal data to a high security HR system. In 2005 Dr. Wallis took over the Infrastructure Consulting Team and worked on a number of complex IT outsourcing projects. Following this he gained key experience working in high-level positions such as Director Presales & Projects Airlines and Key Account Manager for the Airline and Aviation Business. In this context he focused on cloud-based Software-as-a-Service Products running Lufthansa Systems airline software solutions. Dr. Eckart Wallis attained his PhD in Geology at the Technical University of Berlin. From 1995 -2001 he was working as a scientific assistant on the development of a Geo-Information System for geochemical data in a German-Chinese research program.



Arnold Fauner

International Sales Manager – NextSense

Bio: Arnold Fauner joined NextSense in 2008 as a Support and Trainer for optical measurement devices. He has since become International Sales Manager involved in the successful delivery of the Calipri Solution to customers all over the world, including Trenitalia, Alstom, Bombardier, ATM, RFI, ATAC, Sangritana, Surfer, Ente Autonoma del Volturno EAV, NTV and TreNord.  He has a Master Degree in Geomatics Science at the Technical University of Graz (Austria).



Jon Tucker

Session: Adding value with Engineering in the transportation field

Jon is the Head of Product Marketing for Panasonic Computer Product Solutions (CPS). During his 18 years with Panasonic, Jon has gained extensive experience working as the technical lead in the deployment of mobile technology solutions with some of Panasonic Toughbook's largest customers, including British Gas, BT, Iveco and Ford. With a software engineering background, Jon has held a variety of operational and service management positions with Panasonic and for the past 6 years has headed up the European product marketing team. Jon loves to watch sports in his spare time, especially with his son playing junior rugby and football and enjoys travelling.
