Working in partnership to deliver a first class experience

Etihad Airways called on Panasonic Europe Solutions Centre to provide a turnkey solution for the technology employed at the company’s Pavilion at Milan Expo 2015.

Etihad is the official airline sponsor under its Alitalia brand, for the six month global exhibition.

Panasonic and Etihad Airways have a long standing relationship which stems back to 2011 when Etihad Airways selected Panasonic Avionics Corporation to provide the in-flight entertainment systems and in-flight connectivity for the airline's entire long-haul fleet of wide body aircraft.

With this in mind, Etihad felt confident that Panasonic Europe Solutions Centre could help to create a Pavilion to remember.

Panasonic delivered a multi-product solution which included Giant LED screens, HD videowalls, CCTV, access control, fire alarms, heating and cooling solutions, broadcast cameras, Toughbook and Toughpad products, phones and printers.

In addition, Panasonic provided full time technical support on site, so that the live broadcasts that Etihad wanted to achieve were handled seamlessly and that any faults or maintenance could be handled swiftly and appropriately.

Ultimately, once the Expo has finished, Panasonic will de-rig the whole infrastructure and ship it back to Abu Dhabi, in the original boxes, for use by Etihad elsewhere.

Cooking up the right solution

One of the highlights of the Pavilion is the Imagination Lounge, which is set up like a functioning

TV studio. An HD Studio Camera captures regular cooking demonstrations, which are streamed on to the Etihad Livestream channel.

The images are mixed live with separate feeds from two overhead Pan Tilt and Zoom cameras. From a control room within the Pavilion, show producers use a Panasonic live switcher to move between shots as appropriate.

Total Control

Panasonic provided a full control system using Toughpad. It means Etihad staff can control the sound across the pavilion and video content on any of the five large videowalls at the touch of a button.
